Potter Electric Signal Company, the recognized world leader in the Fire Sprinkler Monitoring Industry, has an opening for a Mechanical Technician in its Sprinkler/Industrial Division. We are a St. Louis manufacturer seeking a candidate with for our Product Engineering / R&D Department to aid in the support of all product development from concept through production. The position requires a minimum three years experience in the following responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Product Engineers in all hands-on product prototyping construction, testing, compliance samples and documentation.
  • Piping fabrication, sheet metal forming, enclosure component assembly, wiring etc in prototyping R&D area.
  • Basic machining skills using Haas/Bridgeport CNC mill machining centers, manual mills/lathes, grinders, etc.
  • Document tests through reports, charts and graphs using Microsoft Office products.
  • Provide support for Mfg pilot production runs of new products.
  • Setup injection molding machine and mold components for compliance samples and on occasions low volume production.
  • Construct trade show product displays on occasion.

 Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Associates/Technical Degree/ Vocational Certificate or equivalent in related experience.
  • Ability to work on many projects at various points of the product development cycle.
  • Ability to work from CAD models and drawings.
  • Able to follow test procedures, assembly drawings accurately and document test results.
  • Computer literacy in windows based systems and Microsoft Excel/Word.
  • Knowledge of pipe assembly processes, blue print reading, light electrical & troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in electrical product test setup, field wiring and electrical trouble shooting is a plus.
