Electro-Mechanical Assembler

We are a St. Louis manufacturer located near St. Louis Mills Outlet Mall, seeking a candidate for our Production Department to aid in the support of all daily product assembly of new equipment product line. In order to become proficient in the understanding and knowledge of this product, this position will be involved in the set-up of this new production line in an already established manufacturing company.  The position requires a minimum three years of experience in the following responsibilities.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on pipe fitting assembly, component installation, electrical wiring in prototyping area with hands on production assembly line.
  • Thorough inspection and testing of final assemblies conducted in prototyping area and on production assembly line. Record test results and insure the reports go in proper file locations.
  • Set-up newly assembled equipment on test stand, safely and efficiently, run formalized tests, make repairs as needed and re-test until the unit passes all requirements.
  • Troubleshoot final assemblies during final testing and quickly repair/replace components as needed to ensure equipment meets specifications, pass all tests and is ready to ship. 
  • Provide support to other assembly personnel to keep production up and running.
  • Able to rotate from production job to production job on occasion as needed.

 Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Associates/Technical Degree/ Vocational Certificate, or 3 years electro-mechanical assembly experience, or some combination of education and experience.
  • Able to follow written mfg work instructions, test procedures and assembly drawings accurately and document test results with acute attention to detail.
  • Operate daily with a high degree of safety in mind during all aspects of work, including fabrication, testing and moving equipment throughout shop areas.
  • Knowledge of pipe assembly processes, blue print reading, light electrical & troubleshooting skills a plus.

 Physical Requirements: 

  • Able to repetitively torque nuts and bolts to fixtures with force of up to 70 inch pounds (in.-lbs).
  • Frequently moving large product assemblies and capable of manually lifting up to 30 lbs. consistently during assembly process. Able to use a hand pallet jack for transporting pallets.
  • Able to spend considerable time standing, bending, twisting and kneeling while building a variety of assemblies.
  • Vision abilities required include:  close, distance, color, depth and ability to adjust focus.  Must also have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to support overtime requests, as needed.
  • Commonly used chemical compounds such as pipe thread sealant, epoxy, denatured alcohol and acetone. 
  • Able to grasp and forcefully grip hand tools and fixtures (torque wrenches, wrenches, compressor fixtures, etc.)                                                                                                                                                                                               

While the primary responsibilities and focus of this position are the assembly of the new product line, all of our assemblers are required to rotate to different jobs as per production demands necessitate.  This is a unionized position.
