Machinist/Maintenance Mechanic

We are a St. Louis manufacturer located in Hazelwood Missouri seeking a Machinist/Maintenance Mechanic. This person will set up, adjust, and maintain equipment with responsibility for production and quality on this equipment and manufacture machine parts.


Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment. Plan for and take corrective action. Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
• Read and interpret blueprints to plan setup and operation of all types of machine shop machine tools.
• Test equipment to check operation. Clear jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
• Make preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
• Direct line operators in details of standard operating procedures.
• Instruct and direct any maintenance trainees assigned.
• Use full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before start of job. Perform repair, rebuilding or overhaul work of manufacturing or service equipment from blueprints, company manufacturing manuals, written or verbal instructions. Start up and shut down equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power and OSHA requirements.
• Plan setup and operate typical machine shop machine tools, producing parts to tolerances and company specifications. Use typical machinist's hand tools.
• Set up and tests production equipment under power, testing for mechanical difficulties, tracing to their sources and correcting problem.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• May oil and grease equipment in absence of oiler and greaser.
• May operate equipment during relief periods.
• Perform product examination and rework when line is down due to causes beyond mechanic's control.
• Clean up sweepings of machine tool operation scrap and places in trash bin.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Satisfactory work record.
• Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools.
• High mental and visual effort required.
• Job involves standing most of shift.
• Works with power driven equipment; overhaul and repair work may involve assignments in overhead structures or work beneath machinery. Frequent stooping and bending required.
• Works with costly metals where possibility of damage or spoilage is high.
• Close attention and care is required to prevent damage to complex machine tools.
